Colombia’s Interior and Justice Minister German Vargas Lleras will on Thursday meet with his Ecuadorean counterpart to discuss security issues and the fight against drugs, according to a ministry statement.
“The Interior Minister of Ecuador has invited me to the meeting … which will examine the scope of commitments to address the drug problems, and will surely also cover safety issues. I will go and hope that this visit will also contribute to the efforts made by the Colombian president and the foreign minister to swiftly and fully restore bilateral relations,” the Colombian Minister said.
Ecuador broke all diplomatic ties with Colombia after the latter bombed a FARC camp on Ecuadorean territory in March 2008.
