Colombia does not forget its hostages: Santos

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos says in his Christmas speech evening that the country has not forgotten the hostages who are not able to celebrate Christmas with their families because they are held in the jungle by illegal armed group like the FARC.

“We also pray for those who, under the yoke of inhumain kidnapping, continue to suffer from the chains the criminals imposed on them. We do not forget them and they can be sure that we will work every day for the end of their martyrdom (sic),” the President said in a speech at the Tolimaida military garnizon.

The President went on to demand the “immediate release, without any condition whatsoever” of the civilians and members of the military held by rebel groups and criminal gangs.

Santos also asked Colombian citizens to pray for country’s soldiers.

“Let’s include in our prayers the hundreds of thousands of compatriots who protect us and are willing to give their lives for our freedom.” said the President.
