‘Colombia deserved 3 points in Argentina game’

Colombia deserved to win the Copa America match against Argentina which ended in a scoreless draw Wednesday, defender Mario Yepes told reporters after the match.

“We deserved the three points. We had the opportunities,” said the Colombian AC Milan player.

According to Colombia coach Hernan Dario Gomez, the highly anticipated game against the home-playing soccer giant went as planned.

“We planned the game the way it turned out and created many scoring opportunities like we did against Costa Rica” when Colombia walked away the winner, said Gomez.

The fact that Colombia against Argentina had to accept a scoreless draw was because of the work of Argentine goal keeper Sergio Romero, who on several occasions prevented the Colombians from scoring after breaking through the Argentine defense. “He was the man,” said Yepes.

Following the 1-0 win over Costa Rica and the 0-0 against Argentina, Colombia is now leading their group A, followed by Argentina and Bolivia.

On Sunday, Colombia will play Bolivia and will at least need a draw to move on to the second round.
