Colombia’s ladies tennis team crashed out of the Fed Cup, after their defeat to Argentina in the Americas Group One play-off Saturday.
Both Colombian players lost their singles matches, with Catalina Castaño defeated by Paula Ormaechea [6-2, 6-4] and Mariana Duque overcome by Florence Miller, despite winning the first set [3-6, 6-2, 6-1].
The result means that Argentina advance to the World Group Two play-offs in April.
Colombia had previously won all four of their match-ups in Americas Group One Pool B and stand one place above Argentina in the Fed Cup rankings, however they came up against an in-form team which had swept through Pool A without losing a match.
