Colombia congratulates Ecuador on election results

Colombia’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement Monday congratulating
the people of Ecuador on the re-election of Rafael Correa as President.

In what could be the government’s shortest statement of the year, the government “congratulates the brotherly people of Ecuador for the development of the Democratic journey of yesterday and welcomes the triumphof mister President Rafael Correa.”

Colombia and Ecuador have strained diplomatic ties after the Colombian army bombed a FARC camp on Ecuadorian soil in March 2008.
