‘FARC leader’s girlfriend died in bomb strike’

Colombian authorities claim that the girlfriend of extradited FARC leader “Simon Trinidad” died in Sunday’s air strike on a guerrilla camp in the south of the country.

Trinidad’s girlfriend Maria Victoria Hinojoza, alias “Lucero” was among the 27 guerrillas who died in the attack, President Juan Manuel Santos said Monday.

Earlier that day, Defense Minister Rodrigo Rivera announced that “Domingo Biojo,” a senior guerrilla was also killed in the attack.

The Bogota coroner’s office in charge of the identification of the killed guerrillas confirmed to newspaper El Espectador that it received the bodies of 22 alleged guerrillas, but that it had not yet identified any of them.

“All we’ve done was take fingerprints and genetic samples of half of the corpses,” the coroner’s office coordinator told the newspaper.
