Colombia call up Aguilar for injured Palomino

by Adriaan Alsema September 4, 2009

Colombia news - Abel Aguilar

Colombia called up Real Zaragoza midfielder Abel Aguilar on Thursday
for their World Cup qualifiers at home to Ecuador on Saturday and away
to Uruguay next week.

The call up came after Atletico Nacional’s Jairo Palomino injured
his left knee during practice on Wednesday at the Atanasio Girardot
stadium in Medellin, where Colombia will host the match against Ecuador.

Ecuador are fifth in the South American group with 20 points and
Colombia seventh with 17. The top four qualify for the World Cup finals
in South Africa while the fifth-placed team go into a playoff with a
team from the CONCACAF region. (Reuters)
