Colombia beats Jamaica 2-0 in friendly

Strikers Teofilo Gutierrez and Jackson Martinez helped Colombia beat Jamaica 2-0 in a friendly in Fort Lauderdale’s Lockhart Stadium Tuesday.

Colombia’s offense was not able to strike against the Reggae Boyz until 10 minutes into the second half.

The first goal was the result of a breakthrough on the right by Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao, who passed the ball to the penalty area, allowing Gutierrez to head the ball past Jamaica goalie Dwayne Miller.

Jamaica lacked ball dominance throughout the match, but nearly ties in the 80th minute when a shot by Omar Daley hit the crossbar.

It took Colombia until the last minute to set the final score at 2-0.

The match was Colombia’s final chance to play together before they head to Bolivia on October 11 for the World Cup play-offs.
