Colombian border authorities said Monday they arrested a Venezuelan soldier who had crossed the border illegally.
According to immigration officials of intelligence agency DAS, the sergeant of the Venezuelan National Guard was arrested while in uniform in a hotel in the Arauca department.
The soldier was delivered to Venezuelan authorities at the border.
Colombia arrested six Venezuelan soldiers on Colombian territory over the past three months as tensions between the two neighbors remain high. Venezuelan authorities are still holding a DAS official who was arrested in Venezuela.
