Colombia announces Olympic delegation

The Colombian Olympic Committee officially introduced Wednesday the group of 103 athletes who will comprise the Colombian delegation at the upcoming London Olympic Games.

Committee President Baltazar Medina expressed great joy that Colombia met its goal of having more than 100 athletes representing the country at the 2012 games.

“We had an ambitious goal considering a minimum of one hundred representatives in London, our chances were tight, and thank God we have passed,” said Medina.

Medina also informed the public that motorcross athlete Mariana Pajon was selected as the standard-bearer for the opening ceremony.

“It’s a huge pride and honor for me to receive this flag,” said Pajon. “I have always sweated to bring about my dreams and it is a real honor. Thanks to the country for voting for me, and the other nominees to carry it, so this is yours too.”
