Colombia and the Organisation of American States on Wednesday signed an agreement to improve the quality of education in the South American country.

The Colombian Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications and OAS’ Virtual Educa signed a document of understanding. The document is an agreement to join efforts in order to promote innovation, quality and education infrastructure in Colombia.

Information Technology Minister Diego Molano met Virtual Educa chief Jose Maria Anton during the 14th international meeting of the OAS multimedia branch.

“For the national government it is very important to close the social gaps with help from the Technology of Information and Communication sector,” Molano was quoted as saying during the meeting.

Furthermore, Molano stated that to promote mass access in the technology sector, Colombia “requires a joint commitment of organizations, programs and governments willing to develop and promote initiatives that corresponds with the environment we live in today.”

The OAS body, Virtual Educa, is a multilateral initiative that promotes innovative projects in the areas of education and training for human development.
