Travel guide Lonely Planet ranked Colombia second in its list of best countries to visit in 2017.
According to the Lonely Planet website, “there are no world wonders, but the country’s mix of vibrant culture, nature and hospitality is a rich tapestry woven by welcoming arms.”
The only country topping Colombia is Canada because of the North Americans’ “dynamic cities that dominate global livability indices and a reputation for inclusiveness and impeccable politeness.”
Lonely Planet is the world’s largest travel guide with more than 200 authors contributing to its ever-growing index of places to stay and things to do.
The travel guide tipped Colombia as the third best destination in 2010, making this year’s endorsement Colombia’s most significant ever.
