Spanish police have caught Bangladeshi drug traffickers smuggling Colombian cocaine through the commercial consignment of fresh flowers.
The alleged Bangladeshi drug gang was detained in Madrid, Spain with 26 kilos of Colombian cocaine trafficked since October 1, reported CMI radio.
The cocaine was hidden in 23 boxes of red roses, in the stems of the flowers and the cardboard covering of the boxes.
An investigation of the group started in March when the Civil Guard noticed irregularities in a new company supposedly “dedicated to importing fresh flowers from Colombia.” The group is allegedly called “Shapla,” according to Spanish newspaper El Norte de Castilla.
After confirming the group was responsible for the packages, four Bangladeshis were arrested for drug trafficking charges.
