Coalcorp to sell Colombian mine to Goldman Sachs unit

Coalcorp announces planned sale of Colombian mine to Goldman Sachs unit.

The La Francia mine in north-east Colombia, and related infrastructure assets, will be sold in a deal worth over US$200 million to a subsidiary of Goldman Sachs.

The coal mining and exploration company has had recent financial troubles, failing to make an interest payment on a loan.

Coalcorp will still have a 60% interest in Carbones Colombianos del Cerrejon, which owns the north Colombian La Caypa coal mine.
