Climbers put photo of Ingrid Betancourt on Mont Blanc

Alpinists Laurent Fabre, Sebastien Baud, Valentine Fabre and Lionel Bonnel put the picture of the kidnapped French-Colombian politician along with a flag of Colombia on the 4,810 meters above sea level peak.The Ingrid Betancourt Support Committee expressed its gratitude to the climbers. “Thanks to these heroes, Ingrid Betancourt and the hostages in Colombia will not be forgotten”, a spokesman of the committee said.The committee also expressed its desire to motivate the entire European Union to support the release of the hostages in Colombia, as currently the French government is doing.The Betancourt supporters organized a meeting in favor of Colombia’s hostages in Chamonix, the town near the Mont-Blanc. The event was attended by the youngest son of Ingrid Betancourt, Lorenzo Delloye, former husband of Ingrid, Fabrice Delloye, Olympic skiing champion Jean-Pierre Vidal and the first woman to reach the North Pole alone, the French Christine Janin.
