Church repeats call to liberate hostages

The Catholic Church Thursday again called on Colombia’s largest rebel group FARC to liberate all
hostages, arguing that if they do, they will be  reintegrated into
society as soon as possible.

Cardinal Pedro Rubiano Sáenz, speaking before Bogotano worshipers in the capital’s Catedral Primada, said “there is much damage it has done. For this the Colombians ask the insurgency to understand what they are doing. We Colombians reject it and they will also have to respond to teh Lord for what they have done.”

“I think they have the oppurtunity to rehabilitate themselves if they release all the people they kidnapped. They will be able to reincorporate themselves with the country and with this also give a sign of freedom,” the church leader added.
