Church denies sweaty Christ is a miracle

The Catholic Church denied that a statue of Christ in a church in Silvia, in south-west Colombia, sweats and cries. The local community continue arriving to witness the supposed miracle.

The incident began on Wednesday morning, when several worshippers noticed that the statue appeared to gleam and exude sweat, especially on its arms. The news spread like wildfire throughout the region and worshippers flocked to the church to witness the phenomenon.

The parish priest Álvaro Muñoz explained that the statue had just been cleaned with a special oil, which gave it the appearance of sweat.

The rural community ignored the explanation and the crowd continued to
grow until the priest was forced to close the doors of the Church.

Hundreds of people continue to congregate at the Church, praying for miracles.
