Matias Fernandez scored from a free kick and controlled the midfield Tuesday as Chile beat Colombia 2-0 in a friendly international.
Jean Beausejour rounded off a quick passing move with a calm shot to make it 2-0 before the half-hour mark and Colombia’s attacking play failed to break down a well-organized Chile defense.
The match at ADO The Hague’s Kyocera Stadium followed a 0-0 draw between Peru and Ecuador at the same ground and was part of the teams’ preparations for the Copa America, which starts July 1 in Argentina.
It was Claudio Borghi’s second match as Chile coach. He started his tenure with a 1-1 draw with Portugal on Friday.
Chile reached the second round of last year’s World Cup in South Africa, where it lost 3-0 to Brazil.
