Child dies in army-guerrilla crossfire

A 5-year old boy has been killed in crossfire between guerrillas and the armed forces, the Colombian army said Sunday.

According to a press release by the army, the incident took place on Saturday in the jungles of La Macarena, Meta.

The child was hit and killed by a stray bullet when soldiers were engaged in heavy combat with the FARC’s 62nd Front.

The hostilities also killed one alleged guerrilla.
