Chicago and Bogotá become sister cities

Colombia’s capital Bogotá Tuesday officially became a sister city of Chicago, Illinois, ABC7 reported Tuesday.

According to the news station, Windy City Mayor Richard M. Daley and Bogotá Mayor Samuel Moreno signed an agreement making the two cities sisters.

Chicago’s sister cities are selected because they have a comparable population or
are the main city of a country that has sent many immigrants to the city.

Samuel Moreno was in Chicago to attend the Global Cities Forum, where he also briefly spoke to U.S. vice-President Joe Biden.
