Some 2,500 indigenous people from Jambaló in the department of Cauca
have started a search for drug labs they want off their
sacred land.
According to the natives, the owners of the drug labs were given a deadline to leave the indigenous’ territory. If not, they would be judged and punished according to their specific indigenous laws.
The deadline ended Sunday at 4PM. Since then, the indigenous have massively started a search to locate where on their territory are drug labs.
“We do not accept these armed groups, left or right wingdrug traffickers, on our lands, spokesman Albeiro Quiguaná told Caracol Radio.
If the indigenous catch the drug traffickers, they may be sentenced to be ‘cepos’, being bound by hands and feet to sticks for hours or days.
