Cauca bomb blast leaves 1 dead, 11 injured

A bomb blast in the town of Guapi, on Colombia’s Pacific coast in the Cauca department Sunday night left one dead, and two policemen and nine civilians injured, reports Caracol Radio.

The bomb exploded in the street between the church and the police station during Mass. Both buildings were damaged in the blast.

The local police commander said the police have reason to believe that the person who died was carrying the bomb and planned to throw it at the police station.

Those injured were moved to a local hospital. Information on their condition has not yet been released.

Police did not comment on the motive behind the attack.
