Cartagena police fight crime from a shack

A Cartagena police branch have taken crime fighting back to basics, using a ramshackle hut as their headquarters.

The flimsy structure, in the El Socorro neighborhood of the Caribbean coastal city, has received the dubious honor of being named the country’s poorest police station by newscast Caracol Television.

A viewer named Luis Gabriel Aguedelo sent Caracol a photograph of the somewhat unbelievable police “station,” claiming its diminutive stature and shabby appearance were a reflection of how much importance was attached to the city’s public services.
