Canadian oil company lists on Colombian Stock Exchange

Canadian hydrocarbons company Petrominerales listed on the Colombian Stock Exchange making it the third Canadian firm to do so, Colombian media reported Wednesday.

Investors will be able to purchase shares in Petrominerales in both the Colombian Stock Exchange and the Toronto Stock Exchange, reported financial publication Portafolio. Pacific Rubiales and Canacol are the other Canadian firms listed on the Colombian Stock Exchange.

By listing on Colombia’s Stock Exchange, Petrominerales is also listed on the Integrated Latin American Stock Exchange so its shares can be traded on the stock exchanges of Chile and Peru.

“We are very happy with what happened today, we believe Colombia is a country which represents a great opportunity for the interests of the company,” said Jack Scott Chief Operating Officer of Petrominerales.

The Canadian petroleum company, with operations in Peru and Colombia, announced plans to invest in heavy and light crude oil. Right now the company has 15 exploration blocks in Colombia.

“We are going to have 10 more wells by the end of the year in the Eastern Plains which is where we have focused our activities,” Scott added.
