Cambio Radical to stay in coalition: Minister

by Adriaan Alsema January 14, 2009

Political party Cambio Radical will continue to be represented in the
Uribe administration, Interior and Justice Minister Fabio Valencia said
after the renunciation of his deputy Ministers led to rumors
about a falling apart of the coalition.

The Minister also denied there has been a growing rift between Government and coalition party — Cambio Radical leader German Vargas Lleras has clear ambitions for the 2010 Presidency and his party proved to be the weakest link when Congress sunk the 2010 re-election of President Álvaro Uribe.

Valencia replaced departing deputy Justice Minister Maria Isabel Nieta with Miguel Ceballos Arévalo.
