Cali authorities will strengthen security measures in the city over the holiday season with operation ‘’Christmas Plan” in anticipation for the annual Cali festival, reported local media.
Colombian newspaper El Pais reported that an additional 1,000 police officers will take to the streets malls, hotels, banks and restaurants for more security during the Cali Christmas festivities.
Cali’s police captain, General Fabio Castaneda said “We call on the public not to be naive and take safety measures not to leave the house alone.”
A ‘’taxi plan’’ has also been enabled to urge taxi drivers to help in security measures.
Cali already has plans in place to combat anti-social behavior with laws implemented such as ‘’the curfew for minors and restrictions on the carrying of arms,’’ during the Christmas period.
The security measures have been stepped up in anticipation for the annual “Cali Feria,” a massive Christmas festival due to take place the day after Christmas until December 30.
