Colombia’s Culture Minister Paula Moreno will travel to the western Colombian city of Cali this weekend to chair the National Culture Conference.

Moreno will be joined by 64 government cultural officials from around the country. The group will discuss the successes and advances made between 2008 and 2010, as well as propose plans for Colombia’s cultural prospects in 2010 to 2014.

The Minister of Culture will present the progress in legislation and regulations have been adopted this year to benefit the sector. These include a decree to provide policy guidelines for the recovery and revitalization of historic centers of Colombia, a national policy to promote cultural industries in Colombia and a decree that seeks to implement a policy that promotes equal opportunities for black people and to combat social exclusion.

The conference will be held in Cali’s Intercontinental Hotel.
