Cali man commits suicide to avoid extradition

A Colombian man in Cali killed himself and a family member to prevent his arrest and extradition to the United States, local media reported Wednesday.

According to the reports, police had surrounded the apartment where the suspected criminal was hiding, when the 55-year-old man shot his 25-year-old niece and himself.

The suspect had eight search warrants against him in Colombia and was wanted in the U.S. on drug charges.
