Ten to twelve million cars are expected to be on Colombia’s
highways Sunday as many Colombians return home from their Easter
holiday. Easter traditionally is the busiest day of the year for
Highway Police.
To make sure inhabitants of Bogotá can return to the capital as smoothly as possible, police blocked all traffic leaving the city on the Bogotá – la Mesa – Mosquera road, which is always the busiest.
Within the capital, police expect half a million cars.
To make sure the amount of traffic is spread evenly throughout the day, police advise Colombians not to wait until the last minute to return home from their holiday destination.
Before Sunday, 10 people died in Holy Week traffic.
