Bucaramanga introduces city-wide wifi

Colombian city Bucaramanga introduced free city-wide wireless internet, RCN’s Colombianews.tv reported Thursday.

According to the newscast, the capital of Santander is the first city in Colombia and the second in Latin America to offer wireless internet for free. Only Santiago de Chile beat the east Colombia city to it.

The 100% wifi coverage in the city is part of a government plan to bolster the city’s image and promote Bucaramanga as a city for business.

The wifi network of the city with 600,000 inhabitants can connect 4,000 users at a time to the internet.
