Boy, 15, impregnates 25-year-old teacher

by Bryon Wells January 31, 2009

A Colombian national parents association demanded Friday the
investigation of a school teacher who they say became pregnant after
a sexual encounter with a 15-year-old student.

The mother of the boy accused the teacher, a 25-year-old woman at the San Bernardo school in Sasaima, Cundinmarca, of sexually abusing her student, said Carlos Ballesteros, president of the National Association of Parents and Families, Caracol Radio reported.

Ballesteros said that although the alleged act happened last year,
the complaint has just now arisen due to the fact that the teacher in question is 5 months pregnant. He
added that this complaint is worrisome because it demonstrates once
more a case of sexual misconduct between professors and their minor
students.

The mother of the boy is worried, saying her son must now
leave the school along with two other students who denounced the alleged act.

The case will be presented to various
authorities and education officials.
Ballesteros said there are possibly other similar cases that have not
yet been reported. He added that the last statistic available, from
2007, suggests that there were 400 cases of sexual abuse between
teachers and their minor students.
