Colombian boxer Lely Flores won the Super lightweight title of the
World Boxing Council (WBC), beating Uruguayan Chris Namus by knockout.
Flores, a 24-year-old from Monteria, bombarded her opponent right from the start and her rival soon hit the ground without having the strength to get back up.
The Colombian as such, added an important win to her already impressive record with 14 victories and just three defeats. Seven of her wins were achieved by knockout.
Namus had never lost a fight, making this her first professional defeat.
The WBC is one of four major boxing organisations recognized by the International Boxing Hall of Fame, along with IBF, WBA and WBO. The council’s Super lightweight category didn’t have a champion until now.
