A man involved in the Bogota bombing enters witness protection while he assists in police investigations into three men who are believed to have planned and executed the attack.

The Prosecutor General convinced Adelmo Lopez to collaborate with authorities, after he was arrested Saturday for his involvement in the attack.

According to Lopez, he was contacted by the authors of the attack, who asked him to act as an intermediary to hide the stolen vehicle in which 50 kilos of anfo was later detonated.

Lopez was linked to the attack by Gustavo Ladino, who turned himself in Friday and is now also in witness protection while collaborates with authorities. Ladino confessed to falsifying the liscence plates on the vehicle used in the attack.

Both men deny any direct involvement in the attack. Lopez’s collaboration with authorities includes providing descriptions of the three men he alleges were involved.

The Prosecutor General’s investigative unit has undertaken three raids in south Bogota in connection with evidence uncovered on the attack. One raid occurred where the car bomb was allegedly prepared, however no evidence was found at the scene.

The Bogota terrorist attack occurred last Thursday at 5.30AM as Caracol journalist Dario Arizmendi began his daily broadcast and was heard live on air.
