Botero donates $300,000 to rainy season relief

Colombian painter and sculptor Fernando Botero has donated $300,000 to a fund dedicated to providing aid to victims of last year’s devastating rainy season.

Botero met with first lady Maria Clemencia de Santos Wednesday in the presidential palace where Botero “signed the cheque that symbolizes his support to the presidential program.”

According to the first lady, Botero’s gesture “is an example so that Colombians continue to help” the estimated 2.3 million victims of floods and landslides.
