A bomb apparently targeting a police station exploded in a town in northeast Colombia Wednesday.

Though the blast occurred in one of the main plazas of the town of Pamplona and caused significant material damage, no one was hurt.

Business in the plaza has been temporarily shut down as police investigate the explosion. Authorities told Caracol Radio the bomb seemed to have been directed at the area’s Center for Immediate Attention, a type of small community police station that exists throughout Colombia.

Officials said this is the first major violent event to have occurred in the city in the last four years. The department of Norte de Santander surrounding Pamplona has experienced several outbreaks of violence from armed groups, however, keeping police and health officials in a state of high alert.
