Bogota’s Centro Cultural Planetario will colorfully blend modernity with tradition, when it plays to host a series of jazz and fusion nights starting May 6, reports Estereo Phonica.

Each week will feature a different facet of Colombian folk music, such as bambuco, pasillo, guabina and joropo, while giving exposure to the young new musicians who bring a fresh and innovative new take on the styles.

Groups Marimbo and Canuto are scheduled to perform together on May 6, creating a fusion of Colombian folk sounds with jazz improvisation, bass and drums. The event begins at 7.30PM, and entrance is free.

May 13 will mark the release of a new CD by jazz group Zaperocco, while on May 20 Colombian Andean music group Syncope-Five will perform, and on May 27 it will be the classical and Colombian sounds of Duo Villalobos.
