Bogota shops open for 24 hours on Saturday

Shops in Colombia’s capital Bogota will open their doors for 24 hours on Saturday for the annual “Bogota Despierta” weekend.

According to national retail federation Fenalco, some 7,000 establishments will take part in the shopping marathon.

The Tansmilenio, Bogota’s mass transit bus system, will be open an hour extra to transport would-be buyers and window-shoppers.

Concerts and other types of performances will be organized in shopping malls to make a visit even more attractive.

The Bogota police department has promised to step up the number of policemen on duty to guarantee safety.
