Authorities in Colombian capital Bogota are hoping that more than half of the city’s 7.4 million population will take part in a massive earthquake drill in October.
The city’s Emergency Prevention and Attention Directory (DPAE) hopes for the cooperation of some 4 million Bogotanos on October 8 when local emergency teams plan a massive rehearsal for what will happen if an earthquake hits.
Some 300,000 businesses, 60 shopping centers, 70 high schools, and several civilian organizations have already promised their assistance in the drill, Wilfredo Ospina, director of the DPAE, told newspaper El Tiempo.
The exercise is the second to be held in the capital within a year.
