Bogotá bombs explode: three wounded

by Adriaan Alsema January 7, 2009

Two bombs exploded in the poor south of Bogotá Tuesday night. One of the explosions left three people injured.

The Police say the 400 gram explosive probably detonated by criminals to retaliate a rival gang.

“We’re dealing with a 400 grams plastic explosive, which is currently being investigated by the authorities. Some vehicles found near the scene of the crime wereseized, but have no police records,” deputy commander of the Bogotá police Yesid Vasquez told newspaper El Espectador.

The police suspects a criminal retaliation, because there had been disturbances last month in the same house where the bomb exploded early Tuesday evening. Police found ammunition and Civil Defense uniforms in the house after inspection.

The wounded have been taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Firemen inspected the damage on nearby houses.

Another bomb exploded in a billiards hall at 2AM Wednesday morning. This bomb left no injuries.
