‘Bodyguards plotted assassination ‘Mono Jojoy’’

FARC commander Jorge ‘Mono Jojoy’ Briceño Suárez had three of his personal bodyguards murdered, after they intended to assassinate the rebel leader, a Colombian army commander says. Three bodyguards knew to escape.

The six involved bodyguards allegedly tried to kill ‘Mono Jojoy’ to collect the US$ 5 million dollar reward for his death or capture.

One of the escaped bodyguards reported himself to Colombian authorities, Commander of the Armed Forces, General Freddy Padilla de Leon told Colombian press agency Colprensa. According to the military commander the bodyguard is now cooperating with the authorities to help capture the FARC commander.
