The body of the Colombian teenager Christian Aguilar has been found and identified after allegedly being murdered weeks ago by his friend in the U.S. state Florida.
Police found the body on Friday but weren’t able to confirm 18-year-old Aguilar’s identity until Monday by using dental records.
Aguilar’s friend Pedro Bravo, 18, had already been charged for Aguilar’s murder on September 28 eight days after the Colombian had gone missing, reported CNN. However, Bravo did not reveal where the body was, resulting in an ongoing search for Aguilar’s remains.
The police, along with family and friends, had been searching for the missing Colombian student of the University of Florida since his disappearance on September 20.
Allegedly, Bravo and Aguilar had gotten into an altercation over a girl, in which Bravo had left Aguilar beaten up in a parking lot in Gainesville, Florida. Police had found Aguilar’s bloodied backpack in Bravo’s closet as well as several unidentified blood spots in Bravo’s car, thus providing enough evidence to prosecute Bravo without the boy’s body.
The authorities had been using helicopters and K-9 units to scour the area in search for Christian’s remains. Family had also put up fliers and employed a nonprofit search group to help find Aguilar.
