Colombia news - Ingrid Betancourt

The documentary “Ingrid Betancourt: Six Years in the Jungle” will premiere on the Discovery Channel next Sunday.

The filmmakers say October 10 will be the first time Betancourt will be seen on television talking about her fellow hostages in a FARC guerrilla camp: her former running mate Clara Rojas, former Colombia senator Luis Eladio Perez and American military contractor Mark Gonsalves. The program will also focus on the struggle of the victims’ families during their time as hostages.

It will be shown as part of a series on kidnapping in Colombia along with “Escape from the FARC” and “The Perfect Rescue.”

Betancourt was held in the Colombian jungle by the FARC from 2002 until 2008, when she was rescued bye armed forces in Operation Checkmate.
