Barranquilla mob sets fire to assassin

An angry mob set fire and killed an assassin and seriously injured his partner Saturday after the two had assassinated a mechanic in the east if the north Colombian city of Barranquilla.

The angry crowd was able to get a hold of the two killers as they were trying to get away from the murder scene on a motorbike.

According to Caracol Radio, the crowd first beat and then set fire to one of the killers. The second killer was beaten, but survived the lynching thanks to the intervention of police who had come to the scene.

Local newspaper El Heraldo additionally reported that neighbors followed the ambulance taking the 16-year old killer to the hospital where police again was forced to take action to avoid lynching.

According to the newspaper, the Caribbean city saw eight murders within 24 hours.
