Barranquilla celebrates extraverted Battle of the Flowers (PHOTOS / VIDEO)

The northern Colombian city of Barranquilla on Saturday became an explosion of sounds, colors and movements while celebrating the most important event of its carnival, the Battle of the Flowers.

Hundreds of extravagantly decorated revelers took part in the parade that is considered one of Colombia’s most important cultural expressions.

Local media reported no irregularities at the event that lasts until Tuesday.
