Barranca whistler to be preserved by UNESCO

A man from the eastern Colombian city of Barrancabermeja is now officially recognized by UNESCO as a cultural heritage of humanity for his whistling talent.

Barranca resident Alvaro Muñoz Chavez is locally known for his highly unusual sounding whistle.

Because this skill is considered an important part of local culture that should be preserved, he may now officially consider himself a human treasure of the Santander department.
