Barcelona’s Argentine soccer star Lionel Messi is to come to Cartagena in June to offer support for community projects, according to Colombian media.
A few days before Lionel Messi arrives in Bogota to take part in a charity match with Colombian star Radamel Falcao, the reigning FIFA World Player of the Year will assist in events by Cartagena’s District Insitute of Sport and Recreation (IDER), along with fellow “Barca” star Xavi Hernandez.
According to IDER director Jorge Franco, from June 12 to 17 the players will take time to visit the city and observe the work IDER has being doing in the community, including overseeing youth soccer training programs.
Franco said Messi and Xavi would also give talks to the young players whose dream it was to become professional soccer players.
