Barcelona not interested in signing Falcao ‘for now’

FC Barcelona are not interested in signing Colombian superstar Radamal Falcao “for now,” according to daily El Espectador.

Despite a wave of rumors, stoked by recent meetings between the management of Barcelona and Falcao’s current club Atletico Madrid, reports from Europe suggest that Barcelona will not be seeking to sign Falcao or any of his Atletico teammates before the beginning of the 2012-13 season.

The 26-year-old striker has won considerable praise since his $57.3 million transfer to Atletico from Portuguese side Porto in August 2011.

Falcao scored 33 goals in his first season, including two in Atletico’s UEFA Europa League Final victory against Athletic Bilbao in February, leading Spanish sports news provider Marca to label him “Spain’s best soccer signing of the 20th century.”

But for now it seems “El Tigre” will not be unleashed as part of a dream South American forward line alongside Barcelona stars Lionel Messi, from Argentina, and Alexis Sanchez, from Chile.
