The mysterious relationship between Gerard Pique and Shakira takes another step towards going public thanks to the Barcelona coach.
In a pre-game press conference, Pep Guardiola alluded to the possible relationship, seemingly inadvertently, between the World Cup-winning central defender and his “partner.”
Guardiola was attempting to be coy on the subject under a bombardment of questions regarding the love lives of his players, El Espectador reports Friday.
“I am a great coach, very good,” he joked, at first pretending not to understand the question, “but with their privacy, the players do what they please.”
“The dressing room already knows,” he said, “that is what counts.”
“Gerard is doing well, training well. Each [player], with his partner, does what he wants,” he reiterated.
Pique and the Colombian singer have for months been the subject of a plethora of claims and counter-claims, rumours and denials, followed by yet more rumours and more denials.
Last week, however, the pair celebrated their shared birthdays, exactly ten years apart, with Pique posting photos of the occasion on Facebook.
