Bancolombia on Wednesday announced it will receive $100 million of credit from Japan’s Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi.
Alejandra Maria Alzate Ruiz of Bancolombia’s communications department told Colombia Reports, “This is bilateral credit for one year which will help us to meet the financing needs of our clients in Colombia and abroad.”
Alzate Ruiz went on to say, “Beyond the credit conditions, the interesting thing is the recognition – that one of the most important Asian banks is interested in supporting this region.”
The spokesperson for Colombia’s largest bank continued, “They trust Bancolombia, a Colombian bank, enough to extend this credit, despite the volatility of the market and of the international economic conditions; it has a lot to do with the confidence that Colombia inspires in the world.”
The deal was closed November 8.
