Aviatur offers Amazon houseboat holidays

Colombian travel agent Aviatur built fully equipped, two-story houseboats in the Amazon and Boyaca departments so tourists can enjoy Colombia’s stunning nature in luxury and silence.

“The goal is to promote sustainable tourism in areas where there are indigenous groups that wish to receive tourists,” Grupo Aviatur president Jean Claude Bessudo said in a press release.

According to Bessudo, Aviatur seeks to “offer the possibilities to those who seek the tranquility and silence that you can find, for example, in the middle of Lake Tarapoto.”

The boat in the Amazon department already received its first foreign guests and members of Colombia’s political and cultural elite, Aviatur announced.

Both houseboats are permanently staffed to help visitors move the boat to where-ever they wish.
